Competitor monitoring

Get notified within 24 hours when a competitor changes their price, badge, screenshots, tagline, categories, supported languages, or technical integrations, across eight tracked change types.

The problem

Watching a competitor's listing manually is impossible. You'd have to visit every competitor's page every day and remember exactly what was there yesterday. By the time you notice a competitor dropped their price by $5 or earned the Built for Shopify badge, they've had a week of head start, and the install math has already moved against you.

What you can do

Four things Competitor monitoring unlocks

Eight change types tracked daily

PRICE · LISTING · REVIEW · BADGE · VISUAL · CATEGORY · LANGUAGE · TECHNICAL. Every meaningful listing change a competitor makes, caught daily.

Unified Activity feed with You + competitors

Your own listing changes appear in the same timeline as your competitors', distinguished by a 'You' pill and a primary-tinted background, so causality is one glance away.

Daily digest emails the morning after

One workspace-level email per day summarising the previous day's changes by competitor and type. Admins control which change types trigger alerts.

Before / after on every change

Click any change in the feed for the precise before-and-after. Pricing changes expand into the full plan structure. Visual changes show the prior asset next to the new one.

The precise capabilities

Not a marketing summary, what the feature actually does, in the same depth a customer success conversation would cover.

The eight change types

  • PRICE, any change to the plan structure: a new plan added, a tier removed, a price moved up or down, or a free plan added/dropped. Shows before/after for the whole plan grid.
  • LISTING, changes to the app's name, tagline, intro, description, feature list, or feature tags. The actual text diff appears in the detail view.
  • REVIEW, review-count milestones and rating shifts. Useful for spotting velocity moves before they show in the public rating.
  • BADGE, Built for Shopify badge gained or lost. Among the strongest competitive signals on the App Store.
  • VISUAL, main image, icon, or screenshot replacements. The prior asset and the new one are shown side-by-side.
  • CATEGORY, primary category change or movement between sub-categories. Often a positioning shift worth investigating.
  • LANGUAGE, supported languages added or removed.
  • TECHNICAL, integrations / 'works with' app list changes, FAQ / privacy policy / documentation presence, and demo store availability.

The Activity feed

  • Combines competitor changes and your app's own changes in one chronological feed.
  • Each event has a left-border accent colored by change type, eight distinct colors, one per type.
  • Self-events get a primary-tinted background and a 'You' pill in the row header so you can't confuse them with competitor moves.
  • Filter chips: by app (toggle which competitors appear, including your own app), by change type (eight type filters).
  • Status dots on competitor cards summarise the last 7 days at a glance: green (no significant changes), amber (changed this week), red (significant change like price or badge).

Email alerts

  • Daily digest, batched per workspace. Never more than one email per workspace per day.
  • Admins choose which alert types fire: price, badge, visual, listing, review-spike. Each is an independent toggle.
  • Only workspace Admins receive emails, Members and Viewers see the Activity feed in-app but don't get notifications.
  • Each alert links directly to the relevant change in the Activity feed so context is one click away.

What we don't currently support

  • Real-time push notifications, the fastest cadence is the next-morning digest.
  • Slack / Discord webhook delivery, email-only today.
  • Tracking competitors outside the Shopify App Store. Other commerce platforms aren't in scope.

What you see in your dashboard

In your dashboard the Activity feed mixes your moves with competitor moves on a single timeline. Each event has a colored left border by change type; your own events get a primary tint + 'You' pill. Click any row for the before / after.

FAQ

Frequently asked

What counts as a 'change'?

Any meaningful difference in a competitor's listing across our eight tracked dimensions: price, listing copy, reviews/rating, BFS badge, visuals, categories, languages, and technical/integration data. Noise (unchanged values) doesn't generate events.

How quickly do I get alerts?

A daily digest email arrives the morning after the change is detected. The fastest cadence today is approximately 24 hours from change to alert. Real-time push isn't supported yet.

Does this work for apps with no review count?

Yes, we track listings independently of review activity. A brand-new competitor with zero reviews is monitored just like an established one, across the same eight change types.

Who in my workspace gets the alert emails?

Only workspace Admins. Members and Viewers can see the in-app Activity feed but don't get notified. This is by design, most teams want exactly one person triaging competitor moves.

Can I track a competitor's app that isn't on the Shopify App Store?

No, we only monitor Shopify App Store listings.
