Apps Gallery

Every public Shopify app, fully searchable, with the filter and sort options Shopify's own search doesn't expose, category, language, rating, review count, BFS badge, launch date, AI mentions.

The problem

Shopify's own App Store search is built for merchants picking apps to install, not for developers doing research. You can't filter by review count range, you can't sort by launch date, you can't see badge status across a category at once, you can't isolate AI-mentioning apps, and you can't save a research query to revisit. Apps Gallery gives developers the search Shopify won't.

What you can do

Four things Apps Gallery unlocks

Every public Shopify app, kept fresh

21,500+ apps live on the App Store, all in one filterable grid. New launches appear within 24 hours. Removed apps are filtered out by default but retrievable.

Filters Shopify doesn't expose

Category, supported language, rating range, review-count range, Built for Shopify badge, free-plan availability, launch-date range, AI mention flag, video presence, any combination.

Custom sort orders

Newest first, oldest first, most reviews first, highest rated (with minimum review count guard), most-recently updated, BFS-badged first. Sorts the App Store doesn't surface natively.

Saved filter views (Starter+)

Paid users save their research queries as named views. Return tomorrow and the same filters + sort apply against fresh data, useful for tracking a category's evolution over time.

Inside the feature

The precise capabilities

Not a marketing summary, what the feature actually does, in the same depth a customer success conversation would cover.

The filter axes

  • Category, dropdown listing every distinct category in use across the live catalogue.
  • Supported language, dropdown listing every distinct language in use.
  • Rating, slider for minimum rating (0–5 stars).
  • Review count, slider for minimum review count, with sensible default presets (10+, 100+, 1,000+, 10,000+).
  • Built for Shopify badge, yes / no / either.
  • Free plan, has a free plan / paid only / either.
  • Launch date, date range picker. Useful for slicing 'apps that launched in your category last month'.
  • AI mention, apps that mention AI in their name, tagline, or description.
  • Video presence, apps with a video on their listing.
  • Custom sort, newest, oldest, most reviews, highest rated, recently updated, BFS-first.

What each result card shows

  • App icon, name, developer, primary category.
  • Rating + review count, with the BFS badge if present.
  • Pricing summary (free plan available + price range).
  • Launch date (Shopify-reported) + age.
  • Language count (number of supported languages).
  • Click into a card for the app's full data, or jump to the live App Store listing.

Use cases worth knowing about

  • Research who your competitors are, filter by your category, sort by review count, see the leaderboard.
  • Track new entrants, filter by your category + launch date last 30 days, sort by newest.
  • Find weak top apps to displace, filter by your category + minimum review count + maximum rating, sort by review count.
  • Find under-served languages, filter by 5+ languages, see which categories have multilingual leaders (and which don't).
  • Identify portfolio publishers, sort by developer, find devs with 50+ apps but low average reviews.
  • Snapshot the AI landscape in a category, filter category + AI mention, sort by review count.

Saved views

  • Save any filter + sort combination as a named view (e.g. 'New analytics apps with a free plan').
  • Saved views are workspace-scoped, your team sees the same views.
  • Each view shows a small badge with the current result count, so you can track 'how many apps now match this query' over time.
  • Roadmap: alert when a saved view's result count crosses a threshold.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Is this just the Shopify App Store search?

No, Apps Gallery exposes filters and sorts the App Store search doesn't: review count range, launch date range, AI mentions, video presence, language count, custom sort orders, saved views.

Can I filter by AI mentions?

Yes. AI-mentioning apps (matches on AI / GPT / LLM / ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini / artificial intelligence / machine learning in name / tagline / description) can be isolated as a filter and combined with any other axis.

How often does the catalogue update?

Daily. New launches appear within 24 hours of going live on Shopify. Removed apps are flagged but not deleted (you can opt to include them in queries).

Why are there 21,509 apps but Shopify says ~12,000?

Shopify's public 'apps live' count excludes apps that have ever been removed and some sub-categories. Our index includes every app that has been publicly listed, with a removed-at flag for the ones that disappeared. The default Apps Gallery view excludes removed apps to match the Shopify count more closely.

Can I export search results?

Roadmap. For now the /reports section publishes monthly snapshots with the headline cuts (top categories, top developers, top apps by reviews) as downloadable XLSX.
